Sound system works really great ......but front driver dash speaker does not work and driver front door lower sqeaker only on the high frequency. I suspect that maybe the wire thru the door is partially broken or ...... suggestions??

Do I pry the dash speaker cover off to get access to check that speaker out?

dash speaker....little black trim panel at he base of the speaker comes off..to reveal two plastic 'rivits' you either pry out or push in the centres (cant remember but it doesnt take much force!) then the entire grill/speaker assembly pops out...

the door speaker...well highs only wouldnt be broken wire...but COULD be a shot speaker....

which stereo head unit do you have in your car?

Thanks for the info.... will check out the dash speaker tomorrow and see what I can do with your instructions.

According to my owners manual I have the SC-81 system. Does that make a difference to the answers?? All other six speakers seem to be fine.

ok... you will certainly have amps as well as the head unit...

On my 940 the dash speakers were driven from the head unit all other speakers from the amps - i BELIEVE that the outputs from the head unit were limited in frequency NOT to push base out (so not to blow out the crappy 4 inch speakers!)..now my 940 DIDNT have any door speakers in the front (did have grills and wiring but smooth unbroken door skins under them)... im wondering IF someone has added door speakers and powered them from the dash speaker outputs..which would give the effect you describe....

honestly i would replace the heasd unit and speakers with something more modern...i did and certainly havent regretted it !

Is there a way to access the speaker from below the dash? ive seen that on a few cars, that may be a better way to check it out........
