Crushed Control Arm 200 1981

Over this past weekend I was driving down a snow covered street in my 81 245 GLT, and went into a slide and crashed into a high curb with my front passenger side wheel. Luckly my Virgo rims and new tires wern't damaged can't figure out why but i did manange to crumple up my control arm and blow out my power steering rack. any advice on changing control arms would be great. Got to love new england weather

Sorry to read about your misfortune. Your local pick-n-pull should have a ton of good A-arms looking for a nice brick-head to save them from the crusher. If you look through enough Volvo's I'm sure you would find some A-Arms in great shape and if your lucky the control arm bushings (front & rear) will be okay as well. I would also check the entire front suspension for any free play or damage. The big PITA is going to be getting another rack for a decent price. Maybe you'll be extra lucky at the boneyard and find a good rack too. If not FCP & Volvo World has some at fair prices. Good Luck!

Sincerely,

when changing your control arm its a good time to check and replace control arm bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends if needed. you could probably get a control arm at a pic and pull for around $15.
