Disconnecting and repairing Turbo inlet hose 700 1991

This is the large S shaped hose from the AMM to Turbo with a narrow wire bundle branching off to the engine.

I was unable to disconnect the narrow hose from the main inlet hose and didn't want to force it. Is there a trick to this or just a twist and hard pull?

Also, anyone had success patching a small crack (1/4"). Duct tape wouldn't stick at all, I am assuming it was because of the cold. I even scrubbed off the oily film with soap and water first - still no sticking.

Thanks.

I think a replacement hose is about $85 from FCPGroton. I replaced the one on our '90 744T because it was collapsing under boost (suction). You might fix a crack with RTV silicone but $85 isn't that much to shell out to insure that air leaks aren't screwing up your mixture.

Here's the link. Sorry, too lazy to make it clickable
