Not really a 200 series specific question, but anyways...

In my engine cleaning fervor, the degreaser stuff I was using splashed on part of the fender I didn't adequately cover. I figure I'm pretty much out of luck, since it won't wash off, but I figure it couldn't hurt to check if you guys had some miracle solution.

Rub out by hand with a paste compound. If that don't work, hi speed buff the fender with 1500 rpm and a liqued rubbing compound. If that don't work wet sand and than buff the fender with 1500 rpm and a liqued compound and folow up with a less agressive cleaner wax/compound.

As an earlier person replied--a mild compound--such as 3m micro finishing rubbing compound followed by handglaze should restore the gloss. Basically-what has happened is that the solvents in the engine cleaner have damaged or dulled to be more precise the top coat or surface of your paint. By using a light compound-you can take the area down a bit to undamged or less damged paint--and then the handglaze will put the needed gloss in that newly exposed paint. I detail cars for a living--and --think you should be able to restore your finish to an acceptable level--good luck--and take your time

Have you tried to Polish the paint?

I tried wax, as well as bug and tar remover. Is there something else you'd recommend?

I would use Maguires Body Scrub. Wax is differant than Polish, Polish is differant than Rubbing compound. If your paint is metallic be careful. Maybe you should swing by a detailing shop or good car wash.
