Value of the Beast? 200

1990 240 wagon, 106k original, automatic, red, excellent shape, no rust. This is what is for sale near my town. The lady wants $4900 which sounds high to me. She bought it on e-bay from Texas 8 months ago and had it shipped to Oregon. Now she wants a better snow car. Would appreciate any opinions on the value of such a beast.

I bought both my bricks 1990 240DL 165K and 1991 240 135K for $ 2000 or less om northern VA. Both are in good shape. I'd pay a little more for less mileage but not $4000.

Yeah, I don't know about the price. However, if you decide on a price that you want to pay for the car stick to it and leave your number with her. Two years back when I was looking for my 240 I saw a '93 at a dealor ship that I wanted. I came up with a figure in my head that I wanted to spend and I offered just that. The sales guy kept talking to his manager and getting slightly closer with in a few hundred but that was not the price I wanted. Guess what? Three days later, the dealor calls me and says that I could have the car for my price. However, I didn't buy it due to the fact that it needed about 2k worth of work.

good luck and happy bricking!

I'm sure there are markets where you may be able to come within 70 percent of that figure, but here in Texas, that car would be lucky to sell for much more than half that amount, seriously, I'm looking at a 740 same year same miles for 1200. So I'd pass on that one. There's also a possibility that it does have the usual old 240 problems, maybe too many of them.?

I checked www.KBB.com to check the value of the car and included that the car had Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Cruise Control, AM/FM Stereo, Cassette, Third Seat, Alloy Wheels. It came to $4615 with the interior, exterior, and engine in perfect mechanical condition. $4900 IMHO is too mnuch for this car. This lady just wants to get out of the car she paid to much for. I also think that there maybe something wrong with the car if someone would first buy it on Ebay and spend the extra money to get it shipped to there house and now she wants to get rid of it for a better snow car. I think that is just a load of crap. If she could find another sucker to buy it from her than great. If you are interested in the car start low and stay there. Best Of Luck!

Sincerely,
