740 automatic wont go into overdrive 700

I've read lots about similar problems, but not quite the same... My 1989 740 stopped shifting into overdrive - no warning, no "event", nothing - just decided not to change. The car was warm, the weather here in Hawaii is moderate, I've checked the fluid, the fuses - I don't want to replace the trans. Any ideas what else it could be? PLEASE???

No you should not have to replace the trans.
It could also be your OD solenoid, wiring to it, or very likely the OD relay.
check the fuse too.

Overdrive relay. Run a search or read the FAQ for more info.
