Six mystery connectors to nowhere 700 1987

Here's a challenge, guys. (Many thanks to five of you for your advice about seized spark plugs. With the Brickboard and FCPGroton, I'm in Volvo heaven). Attached are two photos showing six mystery connectors under the hood of my '87 744. They are hanging loose, dead ends. In the left front area (driver's view) I've numbered them L1 (nearest to bumper), L2, L3. Same on the right. Details: L1 = blue, rectangular, rounded edges, 2 contacts; L2 = gray, rectangular, rounded edges, 3 contacts; L3 = black, rectangular, sharp edges, 2 contacts; R1 = gray, cylindrical, 1 contact; R2 = black, rectangular, sharp edges, 2 contacts (appears identical to L3); R3 = gray, rectangular, rounded edges, 2 contacts. Except for R3, the contacts are all female; another reason they're called mystery connectors. I would imagine they are all made of that special 1980's Volvo plastic; but they might still work, intermittently. What are they for? Six foglights? Swedish mechanics' portable bun-warmers? (photos are in the image library #2997/2998)

Not sure about all of them, and without looking in the book to match your description, I'd say R2 is probably the L-Jetronic 2.2 idle motor bypass / O2 sensor connector and the two similar L&R are for the Euro headlamp wipers. 1 must be for connecting Norwegian electric long-johns when you are working underhood...

BTW, no pictures are appearing with your note. At least not at my end.

Regarding the pictures, I didn't know how to put them in the message itself, but did figure out how to put them in the "gallery"
Go to "Gallery" then choose Model "700" then "technical" and they will be there. Sorry I couldn't do it more simply...

Andy, to post a pic in your message, go to the image in the gallery. In the small box above the date there is an image source code (or url, I don't know the correct term) that begins with a left arrow "<" and ends with a right arrow">". copy and paste that information, including the arrows, into your post.

Good luck,

Thanks, Don. Wow, you learn more on this board than just Volvos. I also learned from Jarrod's directions that you can reduce the pixel width, and therefore file size on a .jpg picture, to use less bandwidth when sending it - went to my HP photo software, and sure enough, there it was. Are all Volvo drivers so computer savvy -- I wonder what else they know?
