How Do I separate the OD from the main tranny? 200 1982

I have an M46 with Laycock-deNormanville Type J overdrive. I can't get the #!* overdrive separated from the transmission to perform an overhaul.

I removed ALL of the bolts and nuts and the shifter, but I still can't remove the OD from the tranny. I got the tranny from a junkyard, so I don't know if the OD was disengaged when the car was shut down.

How Do I separate the OD from the main tranny? 200 1982

I had the same problem last summer.
Go here. About halfway down the page in the middle of a paragraph there is an explanation of how to separate the OD from the rest of the trans. Look for the words, "[Response: Duane Hoberg]." Immediately following is the procedure.
I did it. It worked. My trans was out of the car but it was still pretty easy.

Apply 12 volts to the solinoid contact, you should hear a click and try again. Sounds like it's engaged. But be careful. When I was putting the case back on my OD I cracked the case and *&^%.
Have you contacted the ODGuru?
