Hi,
I have a new (to me) SC-815 cd player sitting on the front seat waiting to be put in. Will this play CD-R's? I just want to know before I go to the trouble of putting it in and going to the Volvo dealer for the code.

CD-r's will work for you, sometimes u have to switch through the tracks in order for the cd to be recognized, i'd recoment memorex "music" cds that are designed for for music then other data/audio discs

I have 'produced' my own CDs from my iMac and they have played just fine on my 97 V90 CD player. Not sure if this has the same model of which you speak.

Some disc players manufactured before CD-R was available will be able to play some of them, but not necessarily all of them. Not all blanks are the same and neither are the recorders. In short - you my find some CD-Rs that play and others that don't. CD-RWs probably won't play at all though.
