Hydraulic valve lifters 140-160

I'm just wondering if anyone has converted his B20 to hydraulic valve lifters? This sure would make the engine quiet, and no more valve clearance adjustment. It takes away the ability to tune though, and becomes really noisy when the ports get dirty. But out of interest I'm wondering if someone actually did this.

I have long dreamed of doing this. All it requires is that the cam be ground to include the hydraulic clearance ramp (custom grind for sure) and an external oil manifold along the left side of the engine feeding oil into the lifter bores. Use a GM hydraulic lifter - instead of the IPD type solid. Should work like a dream.
Let us know if you try it!

I sure will try this, but only in the distant future. First obligation is to raise the kids (3 1/2 years and 18 months and -9 months) and get them through university...

Then you aren't doing this next week? 140-160

Well, that should take about twenty years (or more -- don't forget grad school).
        Good luck.

It's a '71 that my father bought new, and has done only 115 000km (70 000mi). So it has some life left. Almost always parked in the shade, or with a blanket over the seats. It will wait for me...
