exhaust hits after changing engine and tranny mounts 200 1990

Hi,
I just replaced both motor mounts and the tranny mounts on my 90 240 with new ones from FCP Groton. The exhaust pipe is now hitting the tranny crossbar. It primarily does it when starting and when in reverse. I don't think it does it when in drive. My guess is that I raised the engine up enough to make it start hitting. The new mounts also seem "springier" than my old hardened ones. I've tried to adjust the intermediate muffler to get maximum clearance. Any other thoughts or ideas?

Fixed exhaust hits after changing engine and tranny mounts 200 1990

Thought I'd post a followup for anyone looking for help on this.
I fixed the problem by adjusting the header pipe mounting bracket. I had to loosen the bolts and pry down between the engine and the pipe to increase the clearance. No more noise.

I had with this same situation with one of my two-forties. The previous owner or shot had used the tranny crossmember to unibody frame channel as a jacking point for the car. Continued lifting at this station cause the unibody frame channel to recess about a 1/2" causing the tranny rear to stick up higher than normal. While not sounding like a big deal, you have to conceptually visualize what this will do to the exhuast clearance. Once I fitted an increased spacer between the crossmember and channel frame, the problem went away.

Another point to check is if the header pipe is misaligned in the bracket, along with adjusting the exhaust alingment back from the cat.
