CD Player skips 900

I just installed a Volvo CD player in my trunk and it skips. Does it neeed to be mounted verticaly? Do I need to put some rubber mounts so that it does not bounce? I works when you are sitting still but starts to skip when moving.

Having taken the Volvo (fact) CD Changer apart, it has its own integral rubber (floating) mounts and mine just screws in directly. You could run a CD-Lens cleaner CD through the changer and see if that helps. Also mine not good at playing damaged / scratched discs anyway.

If it is a used unit, then it could be a dirty laser lens
or in need of laser or other calibration adjustments (not
a user operation).

Sometimes as they age, the laser will get a little weak and
needs to be adjusted to the correct output. If it is old
enough, it may be going bad slowly and needs the laser assy
replaced. They range $40-80 for the part only.

I presume a CD changer ... at least with the aftermarket ones, there's a "screw" which needs to be turned to accomodate which mounting method is used - horizontal (0), vertical (90), or at a 45. Usually it's give or take 5 degrees.

If not, is it new? Take it back in for warranty.

If it's used, then chances are the laser mechanism is loose and/or worn, which is not a commonly repaired item, as there are so many variations of the design, both electrically and physically.
