I've been pondering. I've got a 86 sedan 740 manual parts car with parts ready for the pickin. My wife drives an 87 760 turbo sedan (which needs a wire harness) great car! Love it! I drive the heck out of a 87 740 Turbo Wagon auto, Turbo Wheels, Leather cloth interior but for some reason the buyer who ordered it didn't want cruise. No big deal. Car drives great. I drive it between 850 to 1000 miles a week. Many times(daily) maintaining, lets say very highspeeds (100+) for 10 to 20 miles at a time. I'm not going to say which part of the county I drive in but it's a 4 letter state. I'm getting a little restless and I'm thinking of switching my auto 740 turbo wagon over to the manual and save the tranny for my wife's. I see in the F/A that it could be done. My question is, Is it worth it? Will I get that much more power? Will it be that much more fun???

You seemed a little sad that your 740 has no cruise. You aware 740's should be prewired for cruise so the dealership can install it? Get the parts from the u-pick and install it yourself. See FAQs. http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/CruiseControl.htm#CruiseControlInstallation

I've never driven a car with an automatic transmission. I will start when my left leg goes lame with age.

That being said, a 745T with a stick is a hoot. I've got a matched pair.

Now that's the type of inspiration that I've been looking for. I like the way you put it! Its very similar to a conversation I had with some 82 year old guy over the past week who likes to fish lake michigan for salmon operating manual down riggers while giving himeself an insulin injection. I was pondering whether or not to go from manual downriggers to motorized ones. He said the day I have to use motorized downriggers is the day that I give up fishing. Afterwards I went to Capelas and got 400' of wire to restring the the Ol Boys. I guess sometimes we forget how much fun a little work can be! Afterall the only time I realy need to shift is when a caw walks out into the road!
