Need help on shifing problems 1996 960 900 1996

Twice in two days, my transmission seems to be "hunting" for a gear. I have no errors or warning lights indicated.

I will hit the gas the the car will either feel as if it is stuck in too high a gear, or it will shift down a gear instantly and take off.

Does anyone have any experience with this or a similar problem?

Try flushing the trans and refill with synthetic fluid, also in the FAQ, This worked for me all three times the trans was behaving the same.

The 960 has a torque converter lockup. The solenoid that switches the valve on command of the computer sometimes sticks. This causes odd behavior, the worst of which is the lockup remaining locked as the car shudders to a stop. I believe the 960 FAQ has some info on this.

Thanks guys,

I have an appointment for Tuesday...BTW, trans was flushed 30K ago with a good synthetic.

I agree with the solenoid idea...had another car with a similar issue... gets worse the hotter the car gets.
