Acceleration Lack of power? 200

My volvo is great, I have no problems getting it up to 80mph, but I have noticed when accelerating that pressing hte gas down past half way makes very little difference in the acceleration I get. To get any sdecent acceleration ot of the car though I have to hold it down in lower gears longer than it would normally to keep it at higher revs. Is this normal or is it an indication of a bad fuel pressure regulator or something else?

Thanks

Scott

    Acceleration Lack of power? 200

I've owned my '83 242 DL for twenty years and I can't remember NOT having the same problem ! ha ha...

Seriously, I'm back up to running at the 100+ horsepower thanks to my mechanic doing a valve job, machined the head, plus gasket. For an old girl, she's feeling downright frisky!

    Acceleration Lack of power? 200

I had a simalar problem in an 85. Part of the reduced price($500) was for that reason. 80 was immpossible with that problem which turned out to be a bad connection to the temp sensor. I cleanded it off with compressed air, it had become sludged up do the fact that the flame trap was clogged and it was spewing exhaust in that area.
I feel like I'm going to hex my self for the weekend, in the last few days with some warmer temps the"Green monster" is running great!

    Hello,

At 80 mph, I see no problem provided that you are getting good mileage and acceleration at lower speeds. Remember that we call them bricks for a reason, and you only have 113 stock horsepower pushing over 3000 pounds around.

Eventually basic laws of physics begin to take over.....
