Engine mounts, and vibration still going on. 700 1989

Thanks for all your advice.

I am also starting to hear the vibration slightly when turning right or left at most speeds, would the engine be putting more pressure on the engine mounts when turning.

Sometimes when the car is pointing downhill at a junction, there is no vibration at all, like wise sometimes at idle, on the flat.

Would the vibration from the mounts be intermittent if they are not good.

Many thanks

If you suspect the engine mounts, easy way to check is to take a peek under the front of the car. There's a rubber bumper on the middle of the front crossmember. The sump should be 3/8" to 1/2" above the bumper. Less than that, you're looking at sagging mounts.

My mounts are definitely pooched... the sump is pretty much resting on the rubber bumper. I have increased noise and vibration at idle, but no difference in turns, as you describe. New hydraulic mounts, & tranny mount, go in next weekend...

My newly purchased 88 740 GLE does the same thing - vibrates while in gear during stops. Move tranny to Neutral, no vibes, also no vibe while driving. Maybe it is the transmission mount going bad, will wait to see what others say. I do believe the idle is very low, which may contribute somewhat (700-750 RPM?)I am new to the 700 series.

About 750 RPM is the normal idle for a 700. I know that well from struggling to get mine down there with help from the board.

I also have vibration issues and now that I have the engine and tranny mounts in hand, I will hope that they take care of that. Even if I still vibrate though, I definitely need the engine mounts since my fan is hitting the bottom of it's shroud.
