Anyone know how to gain access to replace the lamp in the auto transmission on a 1995 UK-spec 940 Turbo?

The lamp is beneath the cover plate, which unfortunately is not removable. See the FAQ for instructions on micro-switch replacement: the procedure for removing the side panel is the same for access to the bulb.

I've just replaced my lamp on a uk940turbo, it's a bit of a pig but is possible. It's a bit easier if you take that tunnel bit off. When you have, you can just about get two fingers underneath to wiggle the bulb holder out by pulling it down, it's a kind of square fitting with a push in minibulb, if you persevere you'll do it ok, once off you'll find it a real bonus if you add a bit length to the wire using some connectors etc. Also if you're in the scrapyard the little glass push in bulbs used in almost all of the illumination holders are the same ones as are in the back of the dash, so have them out as they constantly come in handy and probably cost a fortune.
