Stalling, '86 244g, B230F injected engine 200 1986

The other night it stalled at highway speed with little warning but limped home with numerous restarts. Will always easily restart and can run up to redline rpms in park, but stumbles and stalls when put into any gear unless I baby it in after warming and revving. Have now replaced cap, rotor, plugs, cables, checked fuses & coil, and spews plenty of fuel when I open the line before and after the injectors. Would appreciate any helpful insight.

Your symptoms sound like a bad Air Mass Meter. See if condition changes with it disconnected. If no change at all then it would be the prime suspect. Plug it in and out with the key off. The easiest way to know for sure is to replace it as a test. They can be obtained at a wrecker. A stuck air box thermostat can cause hot air from the exhaust manifold to fry the AMM.
If you have black exhaust smoke you may be running very rich which could also cause those symptoms. Temp sensor can cause this condition.

I'm working on my 86 DL and it sounds about the same. Starts right up, runs a bit rough, need to feather the clutch to start, accelerates pretty well.Do you have black smoke out the tailpipe? I'm waiting on a replacement air mass meter ( AMM as it is known on this forum). I did a complete tune up with no effect. I did the two AMM checks from the Bentley book and it failed both.
