expected MPG 200 1986

Hey guys I am just wondering what gas milage I should be getting on my 1986 240 dl WAGON. I am just looking for average city and highway. Any information you can provide will be of great use. Thanks in advance.

Here's almost 50 examples from a post last Tuesday:

What is your gas mileage? Everyone reply. 𖑀]

If all is well with it a manual will get about 25 City and 30 Higway. All depends on how you drive, an automatic will be 2 - 3 mpg less. Dan

How come my mileage is worse? 200 1986

"If all is well with it a manual will get about 25 City and 30 Higway. All depends on how you drive, an automatic will be 2 - 3 mpg less. Dan"

Dan--

Ever since I got my 1992 wagon with AW70 it's gotten 19 mpg in suburban driving with AC, 20 mpg w/o AC, and 24-25 on the interstate at 70 mph. That's adjusted for true distance with 195/70x14 tires.

It starts and runs PERFECTLY, hot or cold weather, hot or cold engine. Great engine management systems AFAIC.

All OK: Plugs, wires, filters ok, clean throttle body and idle regulator, belts all aligned, thermostat, tires, white label 561 ECU, Mobil 1 in rear axle...and no trouble codes such as 232.

The only thing I can think of that is left over from the PO is my OX sensor. Could I still have ideal engine operation and no trouble code with a bad sensor?

If gas were still a buck a gallon I wouldn't be so concerned. But it's headed for $2 this summer I bet.

Thanks to anyone who can solve this mystery.

Doug Harvey

I would say 22/25 with AW70 autobox and 23/27 with M46+OD stick.

Not another MPG thread ... :)
I get 24-26 mixed driving, and 28-30 highway in my 245 with M47
(true 5-speed). Highway driving is usually at 65-80mph.
