Cleaning Nuts and Bolts

Is there any advantage to cleaning the threads on nuts and bolts such that there is no dirt? I always add anti-seize, but wonder if the extra cleaning is helpful in reducing seized nuts and bolts.

    I always clean 'em.

Many precise assembly sequences involve new hardware and the proper lubricant in order to achieve the proper torque.

Besides, the job usually goes better using clean tools and parts.

If it is oily grunge use kerosene. Otherwise wire brush/wheel.
I have 2 bench grinders, one of which has a buffing wheel on one end
and a wire wheel on the other. Worth its weight in gold!

May not help, couldn't hoit (like Chikn Soop). It sure makes them
a lot nicer to work on!
