OD wiring and relay 140-160 1973

Hi,

I'm about to wire in my new M41, and don't have any OD relays. However I have several headlight relays. I plan on using one of those as a latching relay, but I don't know if it can carry enough current. Presumably it will carry something like 10amps (for two high beam gloves) , but is this enough? Does anybody know how much is needed to hold in the OD solenoid?

Thanks

JohnH

I have used a 240 headlight relay, and it works fine. See www.vclassics.com. I have since changed over to Paul Malloy's set-up which is superior by far. See my post in the 444-544 forum of Oct.9,03; http://216.160.8.21/RWD/index.htm?id=695288

Thanks for that. Exactly what I needed! And thanks also to ODGuru (Wayne?) for the info on solenoid rating. I always like to know what power I'm playing with.

Manual trans OD solenoid holding of about 2.1 amps.
