head light lens 200

I guess 165K is the starting point to show age.

The headlight lens in my 90 240, (big plastic) has separated from the reflector.

I need to seal and adhere the two together.

Which -Silicone ? glue should we use ?

Thanks in advance.

Carl in N.J.

You might want to take the light out and clean the old adhesive out with an awl. The lens and housing are sort of a tongue and groove that fit nicely when the crap is removed. Use Goop from a home improvement store, a silicone with a little more adhesion.

Is the Goop you mention plumber Goop? Clear silicone, I have used it for plumbing application, but you are right it might be great for our lenses on our 240s.

There are variants, automotive Goop, household Goop etc., probably all isentical and on the glue rack at Home Depot etc. Not a real plumbers supply item.

I've used Goop on some things - it's like thick airplane glue. It'll bond just about anything. I used silicon caulk to adhere the lenses on my 93 back on.

Autoparts stores sell "gasket in a tube" products for oilpans etc. If it'll stand up to that, I would think it should work for you situation, too.
