overdrive sticks 200 1989

My 89 WGN has been experiencing overdrive sticking on the freeway...is 70-75 mph too fast for overdrive??--about 30 miles each way. What is the best path to take to fix this...never soldered before. The general cost for fixing the overdrive connection w/ the tranny? thanks much in advance!!!

Please be more specific...

Do you mean it refuses to shift into OD or that once in OD, it refuses to shift out?

What does the orange indicator light do during this time?

How does it respond to the pushbutton?

"...is 70-75 mph too fast for overdrive?"

Don't really understand what you're asking. 70-75 mph is fine with or without OD.
