GT gauge cluster - tach recalibrate? 200

Anybody here have experience with modding the 4-cyl VDO guage to read correctly for a v6/8? I believe there was an option to get the GT cluster in a 262c, so appearantly there's a way to recalibrate...(Hoping it's not simply a different tach...)

I'm have been looking for a GT Cluster that would come with the V6 tach. Do you have one of these clusters that you are willing to sell? E-mail me off line with a price. Thanks for your time.

There were to the best of my knowledge, 3 tachs

1 was for 4 cyl

2 was for 6 cyl

3 had 2 terminals for use with 4 or 6 cylinder.

3 different tachs eh? Hmmm, I've got 2 GT clusters, one was pulled from a 242, the other was apparently ordered from the R-Sport catalog as it has a genuine Volvo box and installation manual for cars which didn't have the cluster to begin with.

The one out of the 242 has tach terminals marked as follows (read with circuit board down):
– – x –
- 1 +6 +12
the +6 slot in the socket has no terminal.


The R-Sport tach marked as:
– – – –
- R V +12

So, I am assuming I've got one 4cyl and one for either 4 or 6?
