Thank you all. 1800

I would like to thank all the folks on this board that have helped me with the 1966 1800S over the past four years. This board has been a great source of information, but I have purchased a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT which is 30 years younger(still eight years old). The 1800S is for sale on ebay at the following site.

I will now start using the 850 forum. Thanks again to everyone for their advice over the last four years.....

Good motoring to all.

Thank you all. 1800

Hey Guys... I am the one that bought Oliver's 1800. (And now I find out he had a "Buy It Now" price on EBay for a grand less than I paid! Darn it!)I felt like I was taking away one of Oliver's children, but I promise to take good care of his baby. My father had one of these 30 years ago, and now he is in a nursing home. You should have seen the look of joy on his face when I took him for a spin.

Well, Oliver may be gone but the car isn't, and I am sure you guys will be hearing a lot from me over the next few years.

I hate to have to state the obvious, but I will... You are ridding yourself of the better of the two cars. But of course, you know that and just need a back seat... right???

You description sounds accurate and I believe it to be true. I had always thought that '65 was the last year of early side trim, but I see now that I was wrong... Yours is the first light green (rare for any 1800) colored car I've ever seen with the early chrome...either in person or in pictures.

Very nice car... I offer my sincere condolences for you loss. Enjoy the 850. They are nice too :-)

Thank you all. 1800

Matt,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. First I had to sell my MINT 1951 M37 to make way for the 1966 1800S, and now I have to make room for the 850 GLT. Something just does not seem right here. I restored both of the afore mentioned vehicles, and they are both twice the vehicle of anything offered in the class today. I know that the new kit airplane will be fun, but when completed, there may just be room in the hanger for another 1800S or M37.

Enjoying life’s great modes of transportation.....

Hmm.. you have interesting tastes. Similar to my own except all mine are beaters at best... I have a sibling to your old M37... that being a civilian B1 Power Wagon. Among other things. I'm lucky enough to have space to pile 'em up for a rainy day. Well... sunny day actually if I'm ever gonna get any work done on 'em.

Airplane... I don't know if I'll go there. But I'll admit it would be fun.

Oliver:
Hate to see you leave the 1800 fold; it's been nice talking and listening to you through this board. You have a very good looking 66; if I didn't have a very nice 71E, I'd buy yours in a heartbeat. Good luck, and let us know when she goes...and maybe the new owner will get to be a frequent lister here, too. Good luck, and keep Volvo-ing.

Thanks Roy. I will supply the new owner with this web site for sure. As far as Volvo's go, I have a lot of pre-1997 Swed in my blood. (Don't what one made after Ford took over). Thanks for the compliment on the 1800S. I will post when the car sells.

Oliver

oooh, 1800

9 days left and you are already up to $5k +. Did you disable the buy it now feature? I saw it earlier, but not anymore. How does that feature work anyway? Does it automatically dissapear if the current price goes over the buy it now price? BTW, it does look lovely ;-)

Kyle,

Thanks for the compliment. The buy it now feature disappears automatically when the reserve price is met. It is basically designed to let a bidder buy an item before the reserve price has been met. The price now has no limit and the car will sell for the highest price bid. (Tf the price goes over $7K there will be some bidders wishing that they had taken advantage of the $6,950 buy it now price while it was available.)
