Shift Lever Foam Seal 200 1982

Hello,

Spent the day removing the M46 trans from my 242. In the shift lever housing there is a formed foam seal that keeps out the heat and noise. Does anybody know were to get a new one?
Thanks

Mario

When I replaced the BW55 in my 79 264GL with a M46 I still got a lot of noise coming from the tranny tunnel. I bought that foam piece from my dealer for about $26 and it was a special order part. It arrived from Sweeden in about 2 days and I have not looked back on that purchase ever since. Now my 264GL is quiter and I feel it is an all around better ride. Good Luck!

Sincerely,

Shift Lever Foam Seal-Sorry for Posting Twice!! 200 1982

I have a 1990 245 with the M47II. Mine fell out a few months ago. I also used to have an Oldsmobile Achieva that burned to the ground one day (Spontaneous Combustion.) Anyway, while the fire department was there, they ripped out the hood lining (Thick Insulation Stuff.)

I spent about 30 minutes building a template out of cardboard (with holes and all). I then cut a piece out of the hood lining and made my own "protective barrier", with the 4 matching holes. Much cheaper than ANY dealer.

Try a Dealer.

This foam piece isn't nessicary, but it is nice. I don't have one on my '80 245 with an M-46, and I can feel air come up from the shifter at times.
