Different Euro-US lens model headlight 240/1991 ??? 200 1991

I recently bought a replacement lens for my 1991 240 from FCP Groton. The lens is listed on their site as being an "aftermarket" plastic replacement for models from 86 to 93. Well surprisingly it doesn't fit... It's about 3-5 cm deeper than it should be so it kinda comes out in a hideous way, even though the height and width are good (actually they fit with a very small gap). My car is a non-US model since I live in Europe but as far as i've seen in the pictures the 86-93 models look alike. As far as I can tell from looking at other Volvos on the street this lens should fit the pre '86 european model (the "nosy" one). Does anyone know if the US models had different headlights than the European ones or if this is a mistake from FCP Groton and I should return the part and ask for a different one?
I also bought both turn signal lenses and these seem to fit - not perfectly as the old lens did but the screw holes fit so I think I can trick them into place with a little sanitary silicone.
Is it possible that this could be a manufacturer error???? I noticed that both the headlight lens and the turn signal lenses are not marked with a country of manufacturing or a brand name just a small sign with something that looks like the greek letter Theta, an O cut in half by an I. Has anyone tried these replacements and can tell me if they worked ????

Thanks.

US '86-'93 240 models use plastic headlight lenses. In fact, the entire headlight unit is different. '81-'93 European 240 models use glass headlight lenses. They do not interchange. The US type is glued to the headlight. The European type is clipped onto the headlight.

The turn signal lenses are also different. The two screw holes on the front line up quite well, but the third hole on the side is not in the same place. It is possible to put a European turn signal lens on the US housing by attaching it with the two front screws only. However, as you have found out, the US lens does not even fit on the European housing well enough to screw it on.

Hmm, just checked it out and they have changed their site.
Now they are ONLY www.volvolamps.com
Doesn't look like they'll be selling any more used stuff
unfortunately. I'm sure the damn accountants have something to do with this.

I talked to them the other day - I'm from the area. They're still
selling used parts, just not _new_ parts other than lights. The
reason for this, I suspect, is that they're also a repair garage, and
new parts sales diminish their profits in the end :(

I noticed that too 200 1990

And now I will be checking prices with AllOEMvolvoparts.com and I guess Volvoworld has good prices too, and then of course IPD and FCP and that other one, RPR. I used to look at alloem before i found newandused but, we shall see when i need parts for who i go to. Newandused did have the best prices though... Also known as Frank's Foreign Auto, I wonder what happened to him? Peace

Sounds like you have the Cibie e-code housings and turn indicators which I have replaced my US lights with. Particularly the almost-but-not-quite US turn lens which I have tried to adapt to the e-code housings. I never tried to swap the headlight lenses though, as they are as you say, quite different. The parts are just not made to interchange, but you can buy the lenses for your lights easily enough from dealers in Europe, no?
