Hi Folks

Well at long last i have cured my vibration / shudder, and the car has never been so smooth.

I am thinking of changing the gearbox oil,which i have never done and can't see when it was last done in my records that came with the car.

Should i be thinking of changing it, or as someone advised me to leave it alone?

How long does it take?

I just had mine done for 99.99 at the local garage. A large suction machine that completely flushed the works. Worth it to me at least to avoid the fluid messes, disposal, crawling under the car in the cold ,etc.

Trans runs and shifts much more smoothly...a noticable difference. Do it! Or do it yourself and save.

The mechanic who I trust said every 3 years is or 30k miles is a good schedule to adhere to.

Would you say the same thing about your engine oil? Of course not.

Flush the ATF following the instructions in the FAQ and you will see the difference right before your eyes.

Changing/flushing the AT transmission fluid is one of the cheapest and best things you can do for your tranny. Go to the FAQs and look under trans flush. For the cost of 12 bottles of trans fluidyou can replace most of your trans fluid. Run the car a week or two and flush again and you probably will have
95% plus new AT fluid in the tranny.

Assuming you mean the transmission fluid, it is certainly a good idea to change it. Volvo recommends every 20,000 miles to change it.

Volvo doesn't have a recommendation to change the differential/gearbox fluid but I changed mine to synthetic along with the ATF and engine oil to realize some benefits.
