Okay, I have read and checked the FAQ's, but what is the diameter, inner and outer, of the hose that connects the in tank fuelpump to the fuel supply? Also, is anyone aware of the capasities of the in-tank pump regarding PSI and GPH? it is for a -91 745 turbo. Need to dig into this one this weekend and find a big difference in price of the pumps.

The hose size is 3/8".

No need in buying that one then, got some laying about. Besides $4 for three inches of fuelhose is kind of pricey. Though it was a special item. Thanks!!

The hose is small :-|

I guess that's useless... don;t have the diamter but I recall it being like the small hose that is used for the return line connecting tothe top of the sending unit (outside the tank).

I would not worry too much about pump specs.... just get a replacmeent. This is often called a "transfer pump" i.e. it transfers fuel to the main pump. The PSI is very low and the volume higher. Getting the right replacement will aloow for easy mounting, it's cheap, try fcpgroton.com, I think like 30 bucksish and includes a replacmeent hose last I bought one. Plan some time and be patient removing the lock ring. you would want to put back a new lock ring afterwards, so get that too, cheap.

Enjoy. Watch out - no sparks allowed when working in a fuel tank. Stay ventilated. No smoking, save that and the drink after the job is complete.

3/8" is kind of small, but it must get a lot bigger if it is broken ;-)).

I belive I will order through fcpgroton, I've heard plenty of good stuff about them.

Both Kragen and Napa both lists two different pumps, part# NFP P6876 was 4psi @15 gallon and NFP P72206 15-20 psi @ 58 gph. The smaller capacity pump seemed rather minute, but if I burn a tankfull of gas in one hour, I could probably reach Sacramento before I ran out of gas.

How much time should I expect to spend on changing the related items in a wagon? I've read accounts ranging from 2 hours from beggining to end, as well as some poor soul spending most of their weekend standing on their head, sniffing unleaded.

I got a few Stogeys and some scotch as a price, waiting for me to finish the job.......

The clamps that hold the hoses and filler neck in place can be a real pain. I just cut them off but it is still time consuming. I just did one last weekend in an 88 744T and I had a problem reinserting the unit in the tank. There is a rubber gasket that goes around the inside lip of the gas tank that the intank unit has to fit inside of. Finally used a little silicone grease on it and sort of turned it to get it started into position. The grease also helps get the hoses to slip on easily.

2 hrs sounds about right. The hardest thing is turning the entire assembly to get it out, and getting it back in. Pay CLOSE attention how you get it out.

I will, got the order allready made up. I'm thinking about draining/(mickey mouse)flushing the gas tank as well. I think the sock is broken and I sucked up dirt in to the checkvalve as well.
