Help deciphering vehicle ID #'s for transmission 700

I'm trying to find out what kind of transmission is in this Volvo in the yard. The FAQ info doesn't seem to work for the ID plate.

Here is the ID plate next to the radiator:

left #'s:
745 N2 346877
YV1FW8833N2346877

right #'s:
7458822
26130 2
AA3GC-5
-9 6972
019-11
2

What the FAQ says about the VIN seems right: 745 Wagon, SRS, B230F, '92, Belgium. For the right side, however, it doesn't match up. Line 2, digit 2 (transmission) is the only one that could make sense (#6, AW 70L/71L/72L), but the rest don't:

Line 3, last digit is '5' -- doesn't make sense.
Line 4, first digit is 'A' -- also doesn't make sense unless you skip the letters and go with "3", which would be DBA/Bendix Front, ATE rear.
Line 5 works - it is the paint code.

Any ideas? Can I at least trust that the transmission is right?

Thanks,
Adam

Below is a link to Volvo World for plate id.
I clicked on 780 to get the numbers simular to your plate
According to them the car could have AW71, 72, 74, AW30-43

The late model 740s seem to conform to the 940 specs.

If the plate looks like this one,

and use the 940 section of the Vehicle ID page to decipher it.

Unless I'm missing something the tranny number is on a plate on the drivers side of the tranny itself.

Yes, but this car is in a junk yard with its rotors part way in the mud. There's no way I can get under the car to look.

From what I can find the car came with a AW70 Transmission
http://engphys.mcmaster.ca/~bill/volvo/database/tranny.htm
I know there is a plate with the transmission model on it.
Looked at my car and can not remember where I saw the number.
Mine came with a AW71 and that plate does say AW71
I thought it was on the plate on the front cowl by the radiator it wasn't.

What you need to look at is the VIC (Version Identification Code), which is on the back of the piller between the left side doors. It is ten digits long, for example 7458745471 is on one of our cars. The next to the last digit is 7, which decodes to AW71.

How would you make sure it's an 'L' locking trans from that number?

You can't tell anything about a locking torque convertor from that number. If it isn't a turbo car, itr\ should have a locking torque convertor.
