Volvo's and Kids 200

When I purchased my 86 240 new in 86, I kidded with my friends that my 3 year old daughter would drive it some day. Well, she did and now it is the every day driver for my 17 year old son. It is a great kid car. I am looking forward to getting it back when he goes off to college. I still love driving it and maintaining it.

My son grew up on Volvos so it's about the only thing he knows... at least with 4 rubber wheels. Can't drive an SD-9 on the road so its the next best thing.

Brilliant 200

Flash of inspiration. I'm going to try laying some bubble wrap under the floor of my car. If it works it will give me some lightweight soundproofing.

I've debated off and on weather or not I would pass on my '80 245DL to my kids as my parents (sort of) did for me... (I say sort of because I did have to pay for the car.)

By the time I have kids that are old enough to drive, I'll probably be in my late 40s, early 50s... My guess is around 2040.

By then, the car will be 60 years old. It will still be on the road, believe me. The only thing that would keep it from happening would be an accident of some kind...

I guess it depends on how level headed my kids will be.

Can you imagine just how big the archives here on Brickboard are going to be in 2040? Wow.

When my sister turned 16, I gave her my 244. She never had a chance to consider driving anything else.
