Don Foster..... 700

I just used the "rope trick" to remove a crank pulley/timing gear off my crippled 760T....man that was easy!

$70.00 tool vs. 44 cents worth of yellow nylon rope...hmmmmmmmm?

Thanks a lot, buddy! The pulley was off in about 15 minutes, hassle free and in good shape!

Damn, your good!!!!

publish a book or something, would you?

cheers! Josh

hey charles... 700

Sorry bout the delay, been finishing off the 740, and driving the hell out of it...!!!!

The rope trick is explained far better than i could do it for you, in the FAQ.

cut and past this.. http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EngineSealsBeltsVent.htm#Changing_Timing_Belt_Bolt_Removal

if that doesn't work, look under engine seals, belts ventilation....then changing timing belt bolt removal....

I used the rope to take the crank pulley off, and to put it on again.

works like a charm!

may the volvo gods beam dowm on you..Josh

Heck I'll do him one better- the rope trick is GREAT and I use it for putting the pulley back ON...
but taking it off simply requires putting the breaker bar and 15/16" socket on the crank nut, position the bar at 4:00 (down, driver's side) when viewed from the front of the car, and bump the starter... 5 seconds later your pulley bolt is loose!

Thats the way I do it, but I pull off one of the coil wires so that it won`t start!

He IS good, one of the best in fact. He'd write a book but his hands are trembling from too much soldering, too many lead fumes...
