Overdrive Problem '91 940 Turbo Wagon Automatic 900 1991

When I first start and drive the car, the trans will shift into O'drive. When I push the button, it downshifts into 3rd and the arrow lights up. Then, when I push the button, the arrow light goes off but the trans will not shift into O'drive. If I want to get into O'drive, I have to stop the car, shut off the engine and start over. Thanks in advance for any help.

resolder the od relay, see the faqs for it's location

OK, I'll give it a try. You don't think it's the solenoid?
