'86 240 hard to shift- Thanks4 ideas 200 1980

Well, i've looked at the cable and all the stuff around it and everything seems fine. Last year the cable (for the clutch) broke, and we had to replace it, so i've sort of been down this road before. The problem is, i still CAN get into the gears, it has just been getting harder this past month. And since two days ago, i am having a REALLY hard time with it. The pedal is a little easier to push now, vs. 2 days ago. My dad sais i should try tightening the cable. But if that doesn't work......

Takes me back to my VW days. Your left leg is probably getting stronger! If the clutch disengages near the top of the pedal, check the tranny for oil. If the pedal is all the way to the floor, your cable got loose. The shift lever should move easily without the engine running and the clutch depressed. If it's easy with the engine off, but hard when moving -- syncros are going to be a problem. That means dropping the tran and letting someone rebuild it. It's a messy job. Lots of luck.

Thanks, actually the pedal was all the way to the floor, and you were right... the cable just needed to be tightened. It took five minutes, boy was i relieved. Thanks for the tips!!!!!!!!
