Engine burning oil 700 1986

My 1986 740T (B230 engine) is suddenly burning
a quart of oil every 400 miles.
Other than rebuilding the engine, is there anything
else I should look for ?
There are 165,000 miles on the engine, and there are
no leaks.

Before you sart looking at a rebuild, clean out your crankcase ventilation system. Follow the FAQ's. My 90 760 turbo was eating oil, and cleaning up the PCV system fixed it. It's cheap and relatively easy. (breather box is a bit tough to get to, but not too bad)

Could it be the turbo instead of the rings? I'd check that first.
