I just ordered a high milage badge from volvo for my 240. How long does it normally take to be shipped out? I heard that they don't stick very well, are there any ways to put it on without it falling off?

I used clear silicone sealer on the face of the badge and attached to the rear hatch glass from the inside of my 245's. Dan

My 100,000 mileage badge kept on falling off of my station wagon's rear cargo door with the standard adhesive strip supplied by Volvo. Although now I see they've upgraded the adhesive strip to be twice the size in area. You can clean the back lid or area between the stop lamps on a sedan with a commercial body shop wax and dirt stripper (not paint) and install the emblem on a moderately warm day (above 60 degree F). Also you might want to head the tape on the back with a hairdryer prior to installation to make the adhesive's surface just that more certain to bond with the painted metal. They're heat guns that the pros use to put on body moudlings, but I thank the hair dryer will surfice.
If you want to mount the badge to the grill, which is what I ultimately did, you should get a decent variable speeed drill (screw drive) and a new carbon bit. I don't remember the exact sizes of the drill I used or the size of the nut and bolt arrangement that I used, but I found what I needed at the local Home Depots harware row. I used a brass, similar in color to the badge, screw with a flat top that fit within one of the "0" on the 100,000 mile badge. I then carefully taped two starter holes in the first zero to the right of the "1" and the second zero to the right of the last zero. I placed the badge on top of a wooden block and carefully started the drill slowly in reverse to makesure that I have properly countersunk a beginning drill hole. Then I switch to forward speed and continued to drill at a slow to moderate speed until I had cut through the badge. I then reversed the bit out and went back in again to make sure I had a clean hole. Replicate this procees of the next hole after you've test fited the long (at least 1.5 inches to 2.0 inches) screw that will fit through the badge and wedge it agains the front grill. Insert both screws and then thread on and tigthen up a self lock bolt which shall hold the bold securely to the back of the badge. Then having removed your grill from the car. place the badge where you want it to appear. I have mine in the upper right most corner. Put a large washer on each of the screws studs as they exit the back of the grill. These washers will help to hold the badge against the plastic grill. Now insert another set of locking bolts (one on each screw stud) and tigthen them with a wrench until moderate pressure is felt against the back of the plastic grill. Please be careful not to break the grill or snap off the hardware. Nice and easy will do it, however it may be necessary to re-tighten the bolts behind the grill at a subsequent oil change just to be sure they're secure. Put the grill back into the car, and happy motoring.

Sweet idea.
Any way of posting pictures? I've yet to install my badges, i'm still deciding where to put them. Are the screws noticable? or only when you look close?

That reminds me...I have an 87 with about 405000 miles and some of the badges have fallen off over time. The best luck I had was using Liquid Nails to hold the suckers on. The tape on those badges is pretty good, but mine came off...probably in the carwash. It seems to me that when I noticed both of them missing, each time is was shortly after a visit to the powerwash express. I took the remaining two and removed the tape with a razor blade and alcohol, then applied some liquid nails to the back and stuck them on the freshly cleaned grille.
But yeah, by any chance, does anyone know if Volvo issues replacements? I am missing the 100k and 300k badges. Or, might anyone by chance have one of these laying around?

Ya, i'm missing the 100,000 as well. But it was in a mix-up with volvo, where they sent me the 200,000 instead of the 100,000, because they didn't read that i checked off Km's, and not miles. I now have 200,000 on my other car, but i want that first one!!!

I stuck my 100k and 200k badges on with just the tape provided from Volvo. They are both still stuck on the car after 87k more miles and many car washes, etc. Just make sure you really clean the area that you will stick the badges with the alcohol. I think the badges even come with little alcohol wipes.

The 100,000 mile badge on my 240 has been stuck there for 106,000 miles now and has never come off. To my knowledge, the only thing used to affix it was the stock backing. Make sure that before you put it on, you clean the area with alcohol and then dry it thoroughly.
