seized AC Compressor 700

I have an 85 740GL, about three days ago my aircon compressor began to have a slight rattle, and yesterday the compressor seized.
During the whole time the aircon was switched off.
Would I need a new compressor or would there be something cheaper, or is there something else that may of happened.
Ergent help please I have lost power steering.

Thanks

Sounds more like your pulley threw a bearing than the compressor itself seizing. You might be able to just change the pulley and the clutch, and have a nice, happy AC. If you can turn the clutch on the compressor, then you can just replace that and the pulley.

Sorry, you need an AC compressor. Now, I've seen people take the clutch off of the compressor and run a belt from the crank pulley to the power steering, but it's a long, strange angle, stretch to do so.
