VDO gauge install 200

I will be attempting to install both a voltmeter and ambient temp. gauge tomorrow on my 1990 244 DL and have a couple of pre-install questions.

(a) I have both bezels and rubber feet, but don't see how the feet are needed (or used)with the VDO screw connections to the bezel.

(b) What's the easiest way to wire these? I haven't been behind the dash yet, but have a Bentley guide to get me that far. The instructions with the gauges are overly generalized for all applications, so I was hoping someone could help me out. i.e. should I use snap connectors, solder (yuck), or what to the wiring harness?

(c) Should I use the green light bulb filter or leave alone to best match the dash lighting?

Any info would be much appreciated..Thanks!

Jason

Here you will find the original installation instructions for Volvo's voltmeter:

Hopefully it might be of some help.

Erling.

If you're mounting the gauges to the 2 existing places in the dash (ie: not adding a turbo 3 gauge panel), you won't be using the screw connectors. The feet slide into the slots in the mounting holes, then the gauges, then the bezels.

As for the green filters, it depends on the year of your 240 and your own preferences. Volvo quit using the green filter in the main instrument cluster in about 1989.

Haven't noticed green filters with the small gauges before--how do they install?

I've seen the commonly referred to as "bulb condoms" on other boards. They're just colored sleeves that slip on over the bulbs.
