Direction of clutch disc on 1989 240 200

Which way does the clutch disc face on the 240? The only difference I could see is that the middle splined section sticks out further on one side than on the other. Does the longer side go toward the engine or transmission?

Thanks,
Tom

The longer side goes toward the trans. If you put it in backwards, the hub will hang up on the flywheel bolts.

All the ones I have worked on (admittedly not that new) are marked on the
flatter side, either in English or German "Flywheel side" (Schwungrad...)
or words to that effect. You don't want that hub crowding into your
idler bearing. There is room for that stuff in the center of the pressure
plate but NOT on the flywheel!
