Motor & Transmission Mounts 900 1995

Hello All,

I have been informed by my mechanic that I need to get new Motor and Transmission mounts on my car. I am not familiar with these items and would appreciate anyone who could fill me in on what they are and do they usually get changed out around 9-10 years of age. If you have a reputable website you can direct me to, I would like to get more educated about them.

Thank you for your time.

Hope

2 engine mounts used for mounting the engine to car frame. Tthe weight of the engine crushes the mounts to crack over time. You will need to change this for every 100K miles or so. Not to expensive considering that you would do this once or twice for life of the car.

Hi Hope, It varies from state to state because of climate and weather conditions how fast the rubber deteriorates. Most 10 year old cars need them because the engine sags and tends to get a little close to the crossmember, which then can cause problems with your oil pan, not to mention more noise in the interior. After they are installed you will notice a huge difference. The best place to get them is FPC Groton, 60.00 for the engine and 40.00 for the tranny, need two for the engine. I looked for the labor time and found one source that estimated 3.5 hours which I thought was high. See what your mechanic estimates the time at and go for it. Good luck. Pauli
