Fuel Relay Success? 700

Just a note of hopeful confidence that the replacement of the fuel pump relay as suggested by many 'board' members... seems to be a success....we are counting the days since my Volvo 700 last shut down without warning, and it is now 6 going on 7! She has never performed this long without stopping dead at some point - even if it was at 60 mph on a freeway with logging trucks surrounding me (we live in the Pacific Northwest)!!! A little bit of stressing there? Always seemed to find a safe place to pull over - thank you God very much...
Thanks also to all of you who responded so readily to my inquiries - you provide a wonderful service to all Volvo owners! Keep up the good work =-)
m.d. and family =-)

If the fuel pump relay was bad (as seems to be the case) then the radio suppression relay can't be far behind. Do yourself a favor now and resolder the relay.

Good luck

Fuel Relay Success? 700

A relay ? Just finished reading about the troublesome VW Passat 109 black relay , $20 or so, and less than ten years old.. And the entire automotive operation hinges on this one, not just fuel..
Volvo, Saab, and VW, and other Euros, could all be using the same supplier.

So then the Volvo one is good for say 12 years, plus or minus 4 years ?? Thus, the fuel pump relay should be changed before it goes totally bad and leaves her stranded..
