bad vibrations 700 1986

I have a massive vibration under acceleration/decceleration. Have already changed the U-joints. Carrier bearing appears normal. Load "clunck" when I put the trans into drive or reverse. Sounds like it's coming from the back of the trany. Tire's are new and balanced. Don't know what to do beside start changing exspensive parts one-by-one until the problem goes away. Can anyone help me save a few bucks? Vibrations are the worst at 20-25 MPH and 2000-2300 RPM.

Automatic transmission? If so, check the rear transmission bushing (and the seal). Grab the front of the drive shaft and push up and down hard. Do you see the front u-joint move? If so, you have a bad output busing. Check the 700/900 FAQ for more info.
