Park Pawl?Rod 700

My 85 760 will not come out of park. I removed the linkage and tried to turn the shaft, it is locked solid. I did a search and found a couple of comments about pushing the car the other way to take the pressure off, so I'll try that tonight. I talked to a recommended transmission shop who said that the rod was stuck and that it could be repaired after taking off the throttle body. Anyone done this???

well that was supposed to be valve body not throttle body. Anyone ever done this? I ordered the trans book from volvo, should be here next week. Think I'll wait until I can review the book.

I'm always scared every time I take off a valve body. There is a Volvo special tool that holds everything in place when you take it off...otherwise several components just got sprung...I don't know if something could be fabricated to hold everything...but yes, the rod can be replaced.
