Stuck Odometer 900 1994

Hi Fellow Brickboarders,

A couple of questions.

The odometer to my 94-960 has not moved for a year now; but the speedometer works okay. I managed to remove the instrument cluster and I managed to remove the screws to the speedometer head; but I got stuck when I tried to remove the horizontal plastic clip that is part of the speedometer head (about 1 inch long) that is holding in some connectors in place. I was afraid that I would break it if I used too much force. Does anyone know how to remove it?

And can anyone tell me what drives the odometer motor? Where is the sensor?

And finally. Are there other models/years where the speedometer heads are compatible with the 94-960’s.

TIA.

Rod

Hi
There are two types of speedo's in the 940' and 960' One has the clock adjustment on the panel, the other one beside the key.
The earlier typ had a wiring connector, the later type with the electrically adjustable clock had seven screws to hold it on the cluster.
The ododmeter is ran by a small motor-- I once had that motor stuck, but even getting it moved did not bring the odometer back to live.
I think fixing this instrument is too much for my DIY electronic understanding, and also-- there are plenty of them on the scraps.

Greetings from Ireland, hans

Hi Hans,

Thanks for the info. If the gears appear to be okay, it looks like I'll be heading to the scrapyard for a speedo head (Dealer wanted $1000cdn to replace and install).
