Window crank installation 120-130

All,
I recently bought a '66 122S in need of some TLC (time, love, and cash). The engine is in good shape, but the interior needs some SERIOUS help. I'm fairly new to the body and interior restoration game, but I used to own an '84 VW Cabrio and I did all of the engine work on it myself. I figured that Volvo makes a good car, and the 122 has a unique look, so I would give it a try. I just bought a window crank for my driver's side door to replace the one that is currently there, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the door panel off so I can release the catch pin that holds the crank in place. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm a goober. I've always created space by pushing in on the panel and then using a small hook tool thingy and screwdriver to pull/push respectively. Using the proper tool would be far easier but like the leaky roof...
When it ain't rainin,' why fix it?

Mike!

IPD has the best tool for the job!!!! Costs $15.50 (I believe) and worth every cent. I got one at the local parts store and IPD's works much better. Takes about 3 seconds per handle!!!!

Yeah, you need to remove the chrome crank and door handle. Everything else is Phillips screws and (gentle) prying.
On a '66, the handle gets in it's own way of using a domestic door handle removal tool. You'll need the hook style.
There is a clip, shaped like omega (omega-clip), between the black plastic ring and the chrome. Force the ring toward the vinyl panel and look down in there. This will need to be pried out.
I prefer the original tool for this job with '65-on Amazon's.
ipd has a copy of the tool # VBT2297

You can't take off the door panel until you remove the window crank. The crank is held on by a springy metal clip that snaps around the shaft. By far the easiest way to remove it is to buy a special took at a parts store--they are cheap and are designed to do what you need done.
