i thought i saw a post concerning that tube and the innards of the air cleaner box...anyone know what i am referring to?.....blessings ,kris

I've lived without it on all my 240's, I think it's unnecessary.

The metallic pre-heater hose ... it helps in the winter time to warm up the engine quicker. If it's missing, though, then you may fail visual inspections.
Beyond that, no real use except when the thermostat in the box fails. Then it becomes the number one culprit of frying the AMM.

Mine's is currently removed. I stick it in at smog check time, then afterwards, off it comes for the next 2 years.
