Removing 91-on 240 Windshield 200 1992

I've read all the archived posts on 240 windshield removal and I have a good idea of what is required in general. However I have a couple of questions:

1) I'm not quite sure how to do this on my 1992 240, since the flush trim makes it harder to guide a piano wire or piece of stout fishing line between the glass and the body. Will this basic procedure still work on a newer flush trim car like mine? Any tips?

2) It looks like there is some kind of rubber piece at the bottom of the windshield--does this stay in place?

TIA--

Dave-
Don't tell me your AC is out? Or you have taken up entomology? Why are you pulling one out?
The rubber bumpers (4 or 5) are to keep the glass from banging on the chassis but they are imbedded in the goo. Is that what you refer to? You can take the seal without damaging it if you want to keep it. Just use the wire or do it with a putty knife on a warm day. Angle it away from the seal toward the body. Free the glass at the top and around the top corners and put gentle pressure on it to slowly pop it out.

Thanks for the reply Bob--thought you might see this one. Current windshield is somewhat pitted, and has some fine swirled scratch marks on it (one of the few defects present when I got that car).

I take it the wire/line must fit under the bonded-to-the-glass-trim and then find its way between the glass and the body--is that right? Just seems like the flush bonded to the glass trim on the late model cars makes it harder to figure out where to run the wire.

The seal is not bonded to the glass but still you can work between the seal and the chassis easily enough. If the seal is sun baked you can get a new one, it is a separate part.
