Cruise Control Vacuum Hose Help 900 1993

I have a 940 with non functional Cruise Control.

I think I have narrowed the cause down to a small vacuum hose. On the bottom of the vacuum pump there is a larger rubber vac hose that goes from the pump to the vacuum servo diaphram. This hose was missing and I have replaced it. The hose I need help with is the small vacuum hose. This hose appears to have a tee junction where one side goes up the side of the fender and follows a wiring harness into the cabin. This side seems ok. The other side heads back toward the firewall. This piece is broken and I can not tell where it is supposed to go.

Can anyone help me fine the correct routing?

Thanks!
Ian

Cruise Control Vacuum Hose Help 900 1993

Ian, I hope this helps. I just ran out in the rain to look at those hoses on my '93 940 (You owe big time!) I'd never looked closely at the vacuum set up on my car. Here is what it looks like:

1. There is a T right at the bottom of the vacuum pump. One side of the T has a small, hard tube which goes up around the strut tower and into the cabin just as you describe.

2. The other side of this T has a similar small, hard, tube which runs up to the vacuum servo at the accelerator spool. At the servo the tube connects with a rubber 90 degree connector.

3. There are 2 soft rubber tubes which go from the top of the vacuum pump to the bottom of the pump. One seems to connect back into a nipple there (can't see it clearly). The other goes to a white T on the bottom of the pump and connects at the side branch of this T. The bottom of the white T points straight down and is left open.

I wish I had a digital camera again! Maybe this info will help. My cruise control work great. The only failure was when I knocked the rubber connector off while putting in a new heater hose and valve.

Cruise Control Vacuum Hose Help 900 1993

Jim,

Turns out it was the vacuum line. I had everything set up per your description, but it still didn’t work. What I failed to notice was that the small vacuum line had disconnected from my newly fashioned tee. Reconnected with tighter vacuum line and, viola, the cruise works.

Thanks so much for your help!!

Ian

Jim,

I did have the hoses routed incorrectly. I rerouted the small hose to the back of the vacuum servo. NO LUCK!

I guess I will check to see if the small hard hose that goes into the cabin is correctly hooked up.

What a PIA.

Thanks again for your help.
