advice on autometer electric oil pressure gauge sender 200

Gentlemen,

Does anyone know if I can use Autometer's sender w/ 14 x 1.5 thread?

Plan on purchasing a sender w/ idiot light connection, and other than the $85 cost on egauges.com, I am ready to go...

After searching the archives I noted 1) that senders are being used w/ different thread sizes, 2) there is talk of adapters, and 3) there is talk of an elbo.

If I use the 14 x 1.5 (5 bar) theaded sender I should be able to screw into the original idiot light location w/o adapters or drama?

Any advice would be sweet, Jon

honestly, I found the oil pressure sender at Advance auto parts. They will tell you that they dont carry a volvo oil pressure sending unit. But they do carry a volkswagon oil pressure sending unit for a 86' or so GTI. The parts are IDENTICAL!!!!! its the same part that is found on the volvo turbos. Good luck.

You might want to go to the Volvo dealer if you are going to spend 85 bucks. They have a kit for 75 Canadian, that has the VDO sender with all the adapters needed to fit any red block included. But I thought the VDO sender was only about 30 bucks at eguages? You must want to use an autometer gauge.

Jon,
I know that you can use the 1/8" NPT thread VDO sender (360 009) from egauges with their $5 14 X 1.5mm to 1/8" adapter in the later 240s with no other adapters. The VDO sender with the proper threads is over twice the $34 cost of the 1/8" one. Can't vouch for what is needed for the autometer one as I don't know if it is bigger or smaller than VDO unit.

If you have an autometer gauge you are probably forced to use a sender with their ohm range, you probably can save $$ using one of their 1/8" senders with the metric to SAE adapter.
