What is the english meaning of 'Sverige'?

George is correct. If you want a bit more background, "Svea" is the term for the germanic tribe that originally went north to populate the southern regions of what we today know as Sweden. The "Sveas" formed their "rike" (from German "Reich"), hence the original name "Svearike". The Danish derived the name "Sverige" from this, which is the nation's name today.

And thus endeth today's lesson in Scandinavian languages.

Erling, Norway.

I wonder if that is the root of the English word "swear"......

The approach of the Svea off the coasts of what's now the British Isles
brought plenty of serious concerns among those who observed it.

Maybe it is like the Brits' view of Henry Morgan as a famous explorer.
Panamanians viewed him as a pirate at best, a looter and burner of cities.
